About BR Fernsehen

BR Fernsehen is a regional television channel from Germany which operates on the Bavarian region. It is owned and operated by the Bayerischer Rundfunk, which associated with the German ARD. It was launched on September 22, 1964 as Studienprogramm, but it was later rebranded as BR3 years later. Eventually, BR Fernsehen would undergo two more name changes until it acquired its current name in 2016.

The channel’s main programming grid consists of in-house productions and some shows produced by the channel’s ARD partners. The network offers general news shows, magazine shows, TV series, debate programs, variety shows, educational programs, and sports broadcasts.

Speaking about the latter, BR Fernsehen has aired football games in the past as part of their coverage of regionally oriented shows. Some of the leagues it has covered in the past include the 3. Liga, among other disciplines.

BR Fernsehen is available on SD and HD formats across the region.
