About

FOROtv History, Coverage, Features

Foro TV is a private Mexican channel owned and operated by Grupo Televisa. It was originally launched as Canal 4 in Mexico City and in some other Mexican cities. In 2010, Grupo Televisa decided to change the channel’s approach and name, labeling the network as Foro TV and launching the new concept on February 15, 2010.

Since its relaunch, Foro TV has focused on airing news broadcasts, political debate shows, documentaries, in-depth investigation programs, and sports. Contrary to most of the channels owned by Televisa, Foro TV has usually aired content for 19 hours.

Speaking about sports, Foro TV has mostly covered American sports such as baseball, hockey, basketball, and motorsports events such as NASCAR races. International events such as Formula One have also been aired on this channel. When it comes to football, Foro TV has occasionally been used as an overflow channel to cover Liga MX games.

Foro TV began airing its signal on Standard Definition, but a decree by the Mexican Telecommunications Institute (IFT) forced all networks to change their feed to High Definition. The channel unveiled its new feed in 2012, although the SD option may still be available in some Mexican cities.

Over the years, Foro TV has expanded its availability to Latin American countries, to Spain, and in some regions of the United States.
