About
Quest History, Coverage, Features
Quest is a free-to-air television channel owned by Discovery, Inc. It was launched on September 30, 2009 and it is available in the UK and Ireland. The channel falls under the category of general entertainment, with factual shows, lifestyle programs and even sports coverage in its grid. The channel was originally scheduled to be launched in May 2009, but Discovery named “commercial factors” as the reason to postpone the launch.
One of Quest’s main features sees the channel cropping the top and bottom of all shows with a 4:3 programming to match a high definition format of 16:9. Quest was not on a 24-hour schedule until October 2010, when a 24-hour stream was available on most pay-tv carriers offering the service.
When it comes to sports coverage, Quest began offering football games in 2014, when the channel aired the Schalke 04 Cup, a friendly tournament featuring Newcastle United and West Ham United. Years later, Quest penned a deal with the English Football League to broadcast highlights shows for the EFL, for League One, and League Two.
Added to the channel’s football coverage, Quest has aired biking competitions, snooker events, darts tournaments, and motor sports competitions such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, along with its sister channels Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2.
Quest is not only available in the free-to-air grid, as pay-tv users can also watch it via cable, satellite, and even on IPTV providers in some European countries. Check its availability with your pay-tv carrier of choice.
