The Brazilian Primeira Liga, also known as Liga Sul-Minas-Rio or Copa Sul-Minas-Rio, is the nation’s competition contested by teams from the South Region, Ceará, Minas Gerais, and Rio de Janeiro state. 16 teams participate in this tournament and are split into four groups of four in a single round-robin format for the first stage. The top two teams in each group move on to the knockout stage.
