About Serie B
The Série B, also known as Campeonato Brasileiro Série B or Brasileirão Série B, is the second-tier league in the Brazilian football league system. Founded in 1971, the competition underwent several changes before settling for a stable format in 2006.
A total of 20 teams participate in this championship each season. Série B follows a double round-robin format, meaning each team faces every other club twice per campaign. The championship boasts a promotion/relegation system, with the top four teams climbing up to the Brasileiro (the top-flight) and the bottom four dropping down to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série C (the third division).
