About Supercopa Ecuador

Supercopa Ecuador History, Format, Organization, Media Coverage

The Supercopa de Ecuador is an annual club competition from Ecuador. It first saw the light in 1969 under the name Copa de Campeones del Ecuador, but after a long hiatus, it was brought back to life in 2018 with the creation of the Liga Profesional de Fútbol del Ecuador.

The format of this competition sees the winner of the Ecuadorian Serie A and the winners of the Copa Ecuador facing each other at a neutral venue. The game is used to kick off each year in Ecuadorian football, meaning the game is held between January or February. If the same team wins the Serie A and the Copa Ecuador, then the runners-up from the cup are invited to play the competition.

Coverage of this competition has been awarded to El Canal del fútbol, who signed a deal until 2025 to cover the annual game.
