About Liga 1
The Indonesia Liga 1 is the men's top professional football division of the Indonesian football league system. The league was founded in 2008 and is run by the Football Association of Indonesia (Indonesian: Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indonesia or PSSI for short).
The league is contested by 18 clubs and runs on the promotion and relegation system. As a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), clubs from the Indonesia Liga 1 are eligible to participate in the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup.
