The AFC U-22 Championship, also known as the AFC U-22 Championship, was an Asian cup competition held for the continent’s under-22 national teams. Founded in 2012, the inaugural campaign took place in January 2014 after being delayed due to the 2013 EAFF East Asian Cup. After its first edition, the tournament rebranded as the AFC U-23 Championship (AFC U-23 Asian Cup).
