About Polish Super Cup

The Polish Super Cup (Polish: Superpuchar Polski) is a football trophy in Poland. It is the equivalent of the Supercopa de España in Spain or the Community Shield in England.

The Polish Super Cup was founded in 1980 and is run by the Polish Football Association, the governing body of association football in Poland. It is a single match between the Champion of the First Division Ekstraklasa and the Champion of the Polish Cup.

The game is played for 90 minutes. In the end, the side with the most goals is crowned champions. Should the match end in a draw in regulation time, it is immediately decided via penalty shoot-outs. No extra-time is played.

Szombierki Bytom won the inaugural edition of the cup match. In 1999, Amica Wronki became the first club to win the Polish Super Cup twice in succession, having won it in 1998. The team almost made it three in a row in 2000 but were defeated 4-2 by Polonia Warsaw.
