The 65th edition of CONMEBOL's Copa Libertadores is entering is now down to its final two games for each team, and after four weeks, we already have two teams that have claimed a spot in the next round and at least two more that could do so after this week's matches.
As things stand, Talleres Córdoba in Group B and Atlético Mineiro in Group G are the only teams that have earned their spots in the KO Stage, leaving 14 for the rest of the clubs involved in the competition. That list could increase to five after this week's fixtures since Bolivar (Group E), Palmeiras (Group F), and River Plate (Group H) are one win -or draw- away from securing their place in the next round.
When it comes to those teams that have failed to impress, that list has to include Flamengo, Estudiantes, and Rosario Central, who are now closer to being eliminated from the tournament than from reaching the next round. The same cannot be said about Gremio, who had to postpone one of their games and still have a chance to make the next round with that game in hand.
As usual, things will kick off on Tuesday, a day when five matches will be held. The same number of fixtures are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, in what can be categorized as a surprise, as the competition usually chooses a day when less games are played. Gremio's match against Estudiantes will be postponed due to the intense flooding in the city of Porto Alegre, which will force them to play two games in June.
