Ivory Coast and Paris Saint-Germain right-back Serge Aurier was rushed to the hospital after severely injuring his head in his national side's African Cup of Nations qualifier against Cameroon, on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old was involved in a challenge with Indomitable Lions captain Stephane Mbia, knocking his head, before being seen convulsing on the ground as both his team-mates and the opposing players urged for medical help, before being hospitalized.

The situation of Les Elephants defender is not known, but the national team coach Herve Renard was later quoted as saying: “It (the injury) is not serious.'”

The game, played at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, saw Cameroon thrash their African counterpart 4-1, as Les Elephants array of English Premier League star names Yaya Toure, Wilfried Bony, and Cheick Tiote failed to muster up a win against Alex Song and Co..

Without revered 36-year-old striker Didier Drogba, who called an end to his international career, Yaya Toure made it onto the scoresheet with Ivory Coast's single goal of the day, whilst Vincent Aboubakar and Clinton Njie both grabbed a brace each for Cameroon.

The Citizens midfielder, who inherited the armband from Drogba, said his side will now aim at winning all four remaining qualifying games, stating after the game: “We need to win the remaining four games to go through and that's what we shall work towards achieving"
