After making it to the AFCON semi finals for the third consecutive time in 2015, can the Black Stars of Ghana overcome the emergent hosts Equatorial Guinea and make it to the finals?

Ghana delivered yet another eye catching performance when they comfortably beat Guinea by three goals to nil to cruise into the semi finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea on Saturday.

However, the West African giants are no strangers to semi final upsets. The Black Stars have made it to the semi final stage for the third straight time now, and have bowed out to Zambia and Burkina Faso on their two previous attempts. Will 2015 be the year they exorcise their semi final demons or will Ghanaian hearts shatter again?

These concerns are further magnified by Captain Asamoah Gyan’s latest injury setback. After colliding with Guinea’s goalkeeper Yattara during the 3-0 thrashing of the Guineans, the forward’s fitness ahead of their semi final showdown with hosts Eq. Guinea has not been confirmed.

To make things worse, Gyan is only just recovering from a bout of malaria that kept him out of Ghana’s match against Senegal, a game the Stars were beaten 2-1. Can they handle the formidable hosts without Gyan?

All these questions will be answered Thursday this week when the two teams clash in Equatorial Guinea on Thursday.
