Despite the mountain of a task facing Ghana as they take on Ivory Coast in the finals of AFCON 2015, their winger Christian Atsu expressed his confidence that the Stars woud bag the trophy.

Ghana and Chelsea man Christian Atsu could not help but be optimistic after his country defeated Equatorial Guinea 3-0 to make it to the highly anticipated finals of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

National Thunder, despite having been in surprisingly top form throughout the tournament, could not handle the Black Stars on Thursday. The fleet-footed Atsu, who provided the assist for Mubarak’s goal on the stroke of half time, had this to say to the reporters:

“It was a very difficult game against Equatorial Guinea, they had lots of confidence [and] the fans were behind them but we worked higher [harder] than them.”

“We spoke to each other that we have to leave the referee and the Equatorial Guinea players and their antics and concentrate on ourselves.”

When asked if Ghana could clinch the coveted 2015 AFCON trophy vs. Ivory Coast in the final, Atsu boldly replied:

“Ivory Coast are a very strong team with good professional players but we will do well and win the cup.”

Having overcome their AFCON semi final hoodoo, Ghana were looking to add a fifth trophy to their already impressive collection.
