After suffering a bout of malaria and getting injured after a clash with Guinea's keeper during the semifinals, Ghana star Asamoah Gyan expressed confidence that he would be eligible for the CAN 2015 Final showdown vs. Ivory Coast.

Despite having not made much of an impression at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, Asamoah Gyan remained the Black Stars’ undisputed talisman. Even on an off day for the former Sunderland man, his mere presence on the pitch was almost always enough to inspire the Ghanaians past difficult opponents.

This is why Ghana fans, coach Avram Grant and the rest of the squad were undoubtedly relieved to hear the forward express optimism that he would recover in time for the CAN 2015 final vs. Ivory Coast on Sunday Feb 8th. Gyan had suffered a fitness roller coaster ride all AFCON 2015, first coming down with malaria before getting injured after clashing with Guinea’s keeper during the semis.

Despite the rest of the Ghana camp remaining tight-lipped on the recovery status of their captain, Gyan freely clarified his progress to reporters.

“Right now, I am responding to treatments, and it is going well,” he said.

“It’s just about three days to the finals so we will see.”
