The 16-year-old boy has only played with the reserve team since being signed in January. Could become youngest player to ever play for Madrid.

16-year-old Martin Odegaard could be just a few minutes away from becoming the youngest player ever to see action with Real Madrid in the 113 years of the club. Carlo Ancelotti has finally called him up for the game against Almeria at the Santiago Bernabeu this Wednesday after the club signed him in January.

Clubs like Manchester United and Bayern Munich had shown interest in his talent before he arrived with Los Blancos. Both clubs had even allowed him to train with them in the weeks prior to signing with Real Madrid. Odegaard became the youngest player to play for Norway in 2014.

Odegaard making it this far is no fluke

His debut it Norway's Premier League came when he was only 13, now three years later, it is time to see if he is really the future star of the sport he loves. He has been criticized for some of his performances with the reserve team. In his debut against Bilbao Athletic he only played 20 minutes and the game ended 2-2.

Zidane has left him in the bench for many of Castilla's gamesZizou has left him in the bench for many of Castilla's gamesWhen Madrid signed him for a three and a half year contract, they included him in the list to face the finals of the UEFA Champions League. He was expected to make his debut against Schalke 04, becoming the youngest player in the competition, but that never happened. He still has a chance to feature in the games against Juventus and eventually the final if they make it through, but that is highly unlikely.

Ever since joining the club, the closest that Odegaard has gotten to the first team action is during training sessions. The Norweigan has reportedly claimed that he "can't be bothered" with training with Castilla when he has the option to do so alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and the rest of the senior team.

Zinedine Zidane's team is reported to play better without the young midfielder. Now Ancelotti may want to give him some minutes, but knowing what's at stake could leave him watching the game from the bench for the most part, if not all.

Almeria is among the five worst teams in La Liga and has received 52 goals in 33 games this season. There is a reason that the Italian manager has called Odegaard for, and he rarely likes publicity stunts. Chances are that the young wonder boy will have his first minutes as a Real Madrid player at the Santiago Bernabeu.
