Jurgen Klopp's men were put to the Emirates as their struggles persist.

Liverpool slumped to yet another defeat in the Premier League as the struggle to find a lasting remedy for their poor start to the new season. The Reds were condemned to a disappointing 3-2 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates, recording their worst-ever start to a league season in the last decade. 

Jurgen Klopp's men were put on the back foot very early in the proceeding, conceding Gabriel Martinelli's opener in just 58 seconds. Since October 2011, this was Arsenal's quickest goal in a league game at the Emirates. On the contrary, the goal also marked the tenth time the Liverpool had conceded first in their past 12 league matches.

The Reds, however, did not trail for long with Darwin Nunez capitalizing on an error by Gabriel to snatch an equalizer for his side in the 34th minute. Earlier, the Arsenal defender had escaped the possibility of giving away a penalty following a VAR ruling after handling the ball in his side's penalty area. 

Just before halftime, Saka scored from close range at the far post to give Arsenal their second lead of the day. Martinelli had led a swift counterattack and Gabriel atoned for his earlier mistake by giving Saka the opportunity to hit his first goal of the after with a brilliant dummy.

Liverpool got back in the game early in the second half, dictating the game's tempo and scoring through Roberto Firmino in the 53rd minute.

Arsenal then made it it eight wins out of nine to go back to the top of the table by winning and scoring a penalty after Gabriel Jesus was fouled by Thiago Alcantara in the Liverpool penalty box. The chance was converted by Bukayo Saka who, at the age of 21 years and 34 days, became the second-youngest player to reach 20 Premier League goals for Arsenal, after only Nicolas Anelka (20y 41d).

With the result, Liverpool were left on 10 points from eight games so far, their worst return at this stage of a Premier League campaign since 2012-13 (nine points).
