La Albiceleste will play a friendly on Friday, as they prepare for the upcoming Copa America Centenario.

With club football almost over, Argentina will soon welcome their players back to international duty, albeit Augusto Fernández and Matías Kranevitter of Atletico Madrid will not report back until after the Champions League final clash with Real Madrid this Saturday.

The 2015 Copa America runners-up will lock horns with Honduras on Friday – or early Saturday, depending on where you live – in what will be only their second ever meeting. La Albiceleste won their first ever clash 3-1 back in 2003, but will they be able to clinch another victory?

Argentina

Gerardo Martino looks to resume preparation for the upcoming Copa America Centenario competition, due to be held in the United States next month, where they face off against Chile, Panama, and Bolivia.

The two-time World Cup champions, having named their 23-man squad for the upcoming summer campaign, with the likes of Barca’s Lionel Messi, PSG’s Angel Di Maria, Man City’s Sergio Aguero, and Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuain expected to feature.

Argentina head into the fixture unlikely to play the likes of Paulo Dybala, Carlos Tevez, Ezequiel Garay, and Martin Demichelis, as Tata opted against calling them up for the Cop America Centenario. Otherwise, there are no injury worries in the Albiceleste camp.

Form-wise, the South American powerhouse are back to winning games after going for four straight games with victory, triumphing in both of their only two games since the New Year.

Since losing out on the Copa America final in a heartbreaking defeat on penalties to Chile, Messi and Co. have lost only once – a 2-0 defeat to Ecuador in their first World Cup qualifier – and have picked up 4 wins.

Honduras

Honduras will be hoping on grabbing a win over Messi and Co., but don’t have to worry about their Copa America Centenario odds, as the Central American country is not one of the 16 countries set to take part in the tournament.

Jorge Luis Pinto’s boys, who’ll make the trip to San Juan, will be hoping to upset FIFA’s number one ranked national side, boasting a similar win ratio from their last 5 games as La Albiceleste, with both nations having won three.
