The latest installment of the Hudson River Derby kicks off this Saturday. And LiveSoccerTV.com has five interesting facts & stats to consider ahead of the big game.

Whether it's Chelsea vs. Arsenal (or any other London Derby), the Derby della Madonnina, the Manchester Derby, El Clasico, Le Classique, or Der Klassiker, European football is full of bitterly contested derby clashes that fans look forward to at least twice year. Meanwhile, whilst the concept of two teams from the same city battling it out for bragging rights may be foreign to Americans who follow the NHL or NFL, those who tune into the beautiful game are certainly well aware of this.

And the MLS is certainly no exception. Thanks to its recent expansion over the past few years, several derbies have been born. Taking a cue from their counterparts across the pond, fans and the media have given nicknames to some of these interesting clashes. One of them, the "Hudson River Derby" features the New York Red Bulls and NYC FC.

So, without further ado, ahead of the latest installment taking place this Saturday, let's have a quick look at five facts and stats.

1. The city is very much red

No, really. New York Red Bulls have absolutely dominated this derby since its inception in May 2015. In fact, they have won six out of their last seven meetings across all competitions, whilst outscoring their opponents by 19 goals to five.

NYC FC's only win to date was at Yankee Stadium, back in July 2016. That means they have never defeated their opponents at Red Bull Arena. Will that change on Saturday?

2. May 21, 2016 - a day of infamy for NYC FC supporters

7-0. Derby humiliations are certainly not out of the ordinary in more established derbies across Europe, and the Hudson River Derby is no exception. Arguably, May 21, 2016 will be a day New York Red Bulls fans will remember fondly - as for NYC FC fans, not so much. It will be a day that fans on both sides will be talking about for a long time, as to date, it's the highest scoring result in this newly created, but no less passionate battle between two teams on opposite sides of the Hudson River.

Even worse for NYC FC fans, this awful result happened at Yankee Stadium! They surely are dreaming of the day to get revenge on the Red Bulls...and having lost 1-0 in the Open Cup back on June 14th, will be loathe to lose yet again for the second time in ten days.

3. One player looking to add more to his growing total...

Bradley Wright-Phillips surely loves playing against NYC FC. The English striker has not only featured in every single Hudson River Derby to date, but has netted eight goals across this nascent series, making him the all-time top goalscorer. It goes without saying he will be looking to add more to this growing total on Saturday.

4. ...whilst another hoping to overcome his Red Bull hoodoo

Having scored a solid 51 goals in 81 appearances for NYC FC, David Villa obviously has no problems netting against opponents in MLS. That is, unless if it's New York Red Bulls. So far, the Spanish ace has just one goal so far in this series and he will be seeking to overcome this frustrating record this weekend.

5. A draw? Don't bet on it...

To date, there have been no draws in this fixture. As noted before, the New York Red Bulls have won six whilst NYC FC have won just once.

Certainly, a draw obviously is possible - after all, we have seen them in other derbies across Europe, but one really wouldn't want to bet on it...
