LiveSoccerTV.com provides some interesting facts & stats to consider ahead of the MLS Conference Finals starting on Tuesday, November 21st.

And then there were four. Houston Dynamo, Seattle Sounders, Toronto FC, and Columbus Crew are the four remaining sides all vying for the chance to lift the MLS Cup. They're all set to lock horns in the Eastern and Western Conference Finals, starting from today and concluding next week, and ahead of what should be an interesting two-legged affair, here are five interesting facts and stats to consider.

1. Seattle Sounders aiming to join a very elite group

Seattle Sounders are currently the reigning champions, having won this trophy in 2016. Should they manage to win it again, they will join just two teams to have successfully retained their crown. The first team to have achieved this was Houston Dynamo, who won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007, and the second was LA Galaxy, who clinched the title in 2011 and 2012.

2. Toronto could be on the road to making history

Toronto have already clinched the Supporters' Shield, which earned themselves a place in MLS history books as the first Canadian side to do so. In addition, the Reds won the Canadian Championship and should they win the MLS Cup, they will become the first team ever to win a Treble in league history. However, they will have to get there without two of their key players, who miss out on the first leg due to suspension.

3. Seattle facing a Houston-sized hoodoo

Interestingly, Seattle have never beaten Houston on their opponents' home turf. The best they've managed is four draws, so they will be facing a frustrating track record on Tuesday evening when they travel to face Dynamo, who have been quite solid all season. That being said, Dynamo themselves haven't fared well when traveling to Seattle, so if Sounders can seal a draw here, they definitely will have a huge advantage in the return leg next week.

4. Rematch of the 2016 final? Think again...

Seattle Sounders and Toronto locked horns in the 2016 edition and many are hoping to see them square off yet again this year. However, Houston Dynamo and Columbus Crew have other plans, and the odds may just point in their favor. Why? Well, statistically, out of the last 21 MLS seasons, both higher-placed (or higher-seeded) sides have advanced to the final on only six occasions. The last time this happened was in 2007, when Houston Dynamo took on New England Revolution.

What does that mean? Toronto finished first in the Eastern Conference. Columbus Crew finished fifth. Meanwhile, Seattle Sounders finished second in the Western Conference, while Houston Dynamo finished fourth. So, Toronto and Seattle came into this contest seeded higher (or higher-placed) than Columbus and Houston.

Of course, we will just have to wait and see, but that provides some interesting food for thought.

5. A personal derby between two former colleagues

It'll be more than just a game when Columbus Crew take on Toronto. Coaches Gregg Berhalter and Greg Vanney don't just happen to share a (somewhat) similar name, but they are quite familiar with each other as they actually were teammates on the US U-20 national team back in the day.

And here's a fact that probably most people don't know: Berhalter is actually the first American to ever coach a professional soccer team in Europe. He was appointed as manager of Swedish outfit Hammarby IF in December 2011 but unfortunately was sacked in July 2013.
