The Polish striker shared his views on playing his first official edition of El Clásico, along with what it could mean for Los Culés to win this game.

The most anticipated game in each La Liga calendar will take place this weekend, and one of the major talking points will have to do with Robert Lewandowski being involved in it for the first time.

The footballer played against Los Blancos in the friendly clash held in Las Vegas back in July, but this will be his first official outing with Los Culés. With that in mind, the footballer did not hesitate to share his feelings ahead of one of the most-watched games all around the globe.

"When I saw those games on TV, I had the dream of playing in one. Now I will get to fulfill that dream. I can only hope for us to show our best football and to be able to beat Real Madrid. All that matters is to take home all the points," the striker said.

Despite sharing his excitement to play this clash, the footballer came clean about what this match could represent on the long run.

"El Clásico will always be a different kind of game, but in the end it is just the next league match to be played. Every three points we win will get us closer to the title, and that should be our focus," Lewandowski added.

Lewandowski shows 'hard feelings' against the Ballon D'Or committee

One of the main talking points of the match will be the duel between Lewandowski and Karim Benzema, who most experts have marked as the winner of the 2022 Ballon D'Or. Speaking of the award, Lewandowski aimed a slight dig at those who decide the winner of that award, considering how they snubbed him in 2020.

"This will be a Real Madrid - Barcelona, not a showdown between Lewandowski and Benzema. I think Benzema is the favorite to win the Ballon D'Or, but let's wait, maybe they will cancel it," Lewandowski said.

Lewandowski's comments were prompted after the award was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, when most experts had earmarked the Polish ace as the man who should have won it. Lewandowski has never been able to win that trophy, with his only top 3 finish coming in 2021, and where he lost to Lionel Messi.
