Tuesday's epic Champions League clash between Chelsea and Ajax proved to be an incredible spectacle and the scoreline at full-time primarily hints at what a roller-coaster ride it was. There was no dull moment from start to finish and, justifiably so, a number of milestones which previously existed were successfully laid into by both sides who shared spoils inside Stamford Bridge.
Both sides fancied an early start and after Ajax had opened the scoring in less that 120 seconds after kick-off, Chelsea quickly leveled the playing field in two minutes later through Jorginho from the penalty spot. In the 20th-minute, scorer of the visitors' first goal, Quincy Promes, grabbed his second before Kepa Arrizabalaga bagged an own-goal after a cross from Hakim Ziyech rattled the crossbar and hit him in the face.
10 minutes into the second half the mission was almost made impossible for Chelsea with Van de Beek scoring Ajax´s fourth of the night. However, the Blues insurgence was set on course seven minutes later through Cesar Azpilicueta. Within the nine minutes that came after the Spanish defender had scored, Ajax received two red cards and Jorginho and Recce James added the remaining two goals to clinch a point for their side.
