Manchester United fans have been thrown into a state of agitation and disarry after their side received heavy battering in the first half of their Carabao Cup semi-final clash with Manchester City. The Red Devils entered the break with a three goals deficit as their cross-town rivals exercised no sense of restraint inside Old Trafford.

Indeed, the scoreline could have been more embarrassing had Raheem Sterling been a tad clinical. The English winger squandered a host of goalscoring opportunities but was safely shielded from immense ridicule with his teammates coming in with the goals.

Bernardo Silva grabbed the opener for the Citizens with a sensational long range strike after just 17th minutes before Riyad Mahrez doubled the lead with an assist from the Portuguese in the 33rd minute. Five minutes later, Andreas Perreira netted an own-goal to hand City the three-goal advantage going into the second half.

Marcus Rashford grabbed a consolation goal for the Red Devils to hand them a thin lifeline ahead of the replay  scheduled for January 29 at Etihad. Below are a few reactions from fans on Twitter:
