The Moroccan footballer will end the season at Ajax before he joins his new club on July 1, 2020.

Chelsea's transfer activity was banned by UEFA last year, and even though the club was excused from a second transfer window without signing any more players, they decided to keep their squad as it is...until today.

The club released a statement earlier today revealing that Ajax's Hakim Ziyech will be joining the club for the 2020-21 season. The Moroccan ace has been widely regarded as one of the most talented players in the Eredivisie, and he will get a chance to play in the EPL with the Blues for the next two years.

Ajax and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of Hakim Ziyech. The player will join the Premier League club on July 1st 2020 and will finish the season in Amsterdam. The clubs have agreed a deal of €40 million euros ($44M). This sum could potentially increase to a maximum of €44 million ($47M), with variable factors," the press release stated.

While Chelsea was used to hire their new players for the longest time possible, the club has taken a different direction with Ziyech.

"The contract of the Moroccan player lasts until the 30th of June 2022," the document adds.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals across all competitions for the red and white side, but his real contribution comes in the assists department, as he has handed out 16 between Dutch league games and UEFA Champions League matches. His ball-handling skills played a key role for Ajax's UEFA Champions League run last season, where Tottenham eliminated them with a last-gasp goal in the semi-finals.
