Los Blancos are not satisfied with Benzema and Jovic this season and will look to recruit a new forward this summer.

Real Madrid are always linked with the hottest names in world football and given that their current strikers are struggling as of late, the Spanish giants are being linked with three of the most sought-after number nines.

Since Cristiano’s departure, Los Blancos have lacked a world-class goalscorer. Benzema started the campaign well but goals have gone dry for the Frenchman, scoring only once in La Liga since mid-December. Luka Jovic, meanwhile, has failed to impress for Los Blancos despite arriving during the summer as a promising forward.

Unless the Serbian forward turns things around and announces himself at the Bernabeu between now and the summer, the plan at Real Madrid is to sign a new striker. According to Marca, the three candidates are Lautaro Martinez, Timo Werner, and Erling Braut Haaland.

All three of these attackers are seen as the most promising goalscorers in football. Martinez is garnering rave reviews at Inter Milan and has even caught the eyes of Barcelona. Werner is in high demand and has interest from Spain and England. Haaland, on the other hand, is the man of the moment due to is unstoppable form for Dortmund.

According to the Spanish publication, the BVB teenager is seen as the favorite for mainly two reasons, the first being Real Madrid’s ties with the Bundesliga outfit. The Liga giants boast a great relationship with the Signal Iduna Park side and the fact that Haaland’s agent is Mino Raiola is an added bonus as there is a line of communication with the infamous representative.

Furthermore, unlike Martinez, the former Salzburg sensation would not take up a non-EU slot. This would be a problem if they sign Inter Milan’s Argentine ace as Los Blancos’ already have the likes of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo, Militao, Reinier, and Kubo on their books.

The Marca report states that the Spanish giants have not forgotten about Mbappe but they admit that the PSG superstar is a near-impossible target. One thing is for certain: a new player will likely spearhead Zidane’s attack next season.
