The social network will expand its coverage of the competition with full highlights for every game played this season.

Facebook and the Major League Soccer have announced a new deal between them, which will see the social network issuing highlights of every game via Facebook Watch.

The social network will take advantage of the 3.3 million users that have "liked" the league to boost their coverage of the competition. Facebook's approach on this matter is their alternative to streaming live sports.

Facebook's director of league and media sports partnerships, Rob Shaw, detailed some of the reasons why the social network is taking this approach to promote sports.

"Major League Soccer has a strong history of innovation on Facebook and this partnership builds on that. We're confident these MLS game recaps will drive the conversation and connection we love to see on Facebook Watch and are excited to help the league continue to reach and engage its next generation of fans," the social network's exec stated.

Added to the new highlights feature on Facebook Watch, the social network will expand its coverage of the league around the world with their "Watch Party" experience, which kicked off in 2018 and will give fans an opportunity to talk about the main topics this league has to offer.

"Facebook's innovative Watch Party experience is the perfect place for Major League Soccer fans around the world to exchange views and share their passion for our clubs and players," according to Chris Schlosser, senior media VP of the league, via a press release.
