The Brazilian had many suitors in England but they look set to miss out on his services.

Despite his struggles at Barcelona and more recently at Bayern Munich, Philippe Coutinho remains a talented player. As a result, it comes as little surprise that he is sought after in the Premier League, with Arsenal, Tottenham, and even Man United being linked with the Brazilian.

However, the English top-flight clubs interested in the South American talent have been hit with a huge blow as he appears destined to remain at the Camp Nou for the upcoming season. This comes on the back of the 2019/20 campaign in which the 28-year-old helped Bayern Munich lift the treble.

Inconsistency plagued the former Liverpool man, hence the Bavarians decision not to sign him permanently. After his two-goal haul in Bayern’s historic 8-2 win over Barcelona in the Champions League, many expected the Blaugrana to either cash in on him or ship him off on another loan with an obligation to buy.

Not only that, but Messi’s recent decision to remain at the Camp Nou after his transfer saga left many believing that there would be no room for Coutinho, especially given that Griezmann is already there. However, this does not appear to be the case.

Kia Joorabchian, who is the player’s agent, spoke to TalkSPORT regarding the attacking midfielder. The representative confirmed that the attacking midfielder is part of Barcelona’s plans for next season and strongly believes he will have a more prominent role under Koeman.

“Yeah. Koeman called him right after the Champions League victory with Bayern, the following day, and told him he’s very much in his plans and would like him to return,” Joorabchian told TalkSPORT.

“He was due to return on September 7 but actually he returned at the beginning of September because he didn’t want to lose his momentum and fitness, and he’s been training with Barcelona.

“All signs point to the fact Barcelona have changed quite dramatically, the way their philosophy of how they wanted to move forward from last year and the players they’ve brought in, like Coutinho, Dembele and Griezmann they’re all going to be part of the squad this year.”

This is an unfortunate update for Arsenal as they were said to be interested in a loan deal for Coutinho. The Gunners are in need of a no.10 and given the Brazilian’s knowledge of the Premier League, he would have ticked all the right boxes for the north London giants.
