The Anfield stars made sure to congratulate the Man City talent on Twitter.

On Tuesday, the winner of the 2019/20 PFA Player of the Season award was announced. Kevin De Bruyne, the Man City ace regarded by many as the best midfielder in the world, was revealed to be the winner of this prize after another impressive campaign for the Citizens.

While Guardiola's side missed out on the English top-flight title by a mile, the Belgian playmaker once again put up amazing numbers and was recognized for his efforts. Not only did the midfielder score 13 times in the Premier League, a feat which is impressive for even a striker, but the 29-year-old assisted a whopping 20 goals, hence being named the recipient of the PFA prize.

Several congratulatory messages were sent De Bruyne's way, with two of the classiest coming from two fierce Liverpool rivals. The first was Virgil Van Dijk, the winner of last season's award. The Dutch is regarded as a classy dude both on and off the pitch, and his tweet to Kevin proved just that.

The center-back made sure to congratulate his successor, stating that his triumph was "well deserved" despite missing out on winning the crown for a second year running. Jordan Henderson, another candidate for the Player of the Season award, also congratulated the Man City superstar, hailing the Belgian as a "class act [both] on and off the pitch".

The Reds will be in action this Saturday when the 2020/21 Premier League season kicks off. Klopp's side will embark on their title defense with a clash against newly-promoted Leeds. Man City, on the other hand, will not take to the field until September 21 against Wolves.
