Bayern and PSG players dominate the positional awards revealed today by UEFA.

The end of an era has caught up with us, and the time when we entered heated debates to decide whether CR7 or Lionel Messi deserved any award seems to have concluded. Earlier today, UEFA revealed the names of the players that will fight for the UEFA positional awards in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League, and neither one of these football stars was included by football's governing body in Europe.

As expected, most of the nominations went to players from Bayern München and PSG. In fact, the only players not included in these teams were Jan Oblak (Atlético), and Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City). If that is not enough to prove these team's dominance, the defensive category was dominated by Bayern München players.

Here are the nominees for the best goalkeeper award:

In defense, three Bayern players will fight for the nomination. Here are their names:

Kevin De Bruyne will also try to win the award against two players for the Bavarian side. Will he be able to steal it away from them?

Last, but not least, the strikers' award will see Robert Lewandowski battling Neymar and Kylian Mbappé for the prize. This will surely be one of the toughest to hand out!

UEFA Europa League Player of the season nominees revealed

The second most relevant club competition in Europe also revealed the shortlist of players that will fight for the Player of the season award. There will not be dominance by any team, contrary to what happened in the positional awards for the UCL, as three different teams are represented in this nomination.

All awards will be handed out to the respective winners on October 1, 2020.
