The Brazilian was forced off in the Tuesday night's Champions League group stage encounter.

Liverpool have been dealt another injury worry with Fabinho picking up a knock in Tuesday's Champions League clash with Midtjylland. The Brazilian was forced off in the first half of the night's encounter as the Reds' defensive problems deepened.

Fabinho had been playing in a makeshift center back role after Virgil van Dijk picked up a potential season-ending injury in the first Merseyside derby of the season. Since partnering with Joe Gomez at the back, the former Monaco midfielder has given his side very little to worry about with a series of remarkable performances.

With Joel Matip also out injured, the defensive midfielder was lined up alongside Gomez once more as Liverpool welcomed Midtjylland to Anfield for their first Champions League home outing of the season. However, Jurgen Klopp's side had to resort to an early change after the 27-year-old Brazilian international pulled up while running around the half-hour mark. He was subsequently replaced by 19-year-old Rhys Williams with the defensive options on Liverpool's bench now almost nonexistent.

While the extent of Fabinho's injury is yet to be known, the William could well be on course for his first Premier League start of the season when Liverpool take on West Ham at Anfield on Saturday.
