The Columbus Crew are Major League Soccer’s latest champions after defeating the Seattle Sounders 3-0 in the MLS Cup Final. FOX’s broadcast received a whooping 0.57 viewership rating and attracted 1,071,000 average viewers.
The MLS Cup Final was also screened by TUDN, but only reached 147,000 average viewers. However, TUDN also had its fair share of viewership action with the long-awaited two-legged Liga MX Final. The most successful of the two games was the later where Leon clinched the title with a 2-0 win, reaching 809,000 average viewers and a 0.35 viewership rating. The first leg, which ended in a one-all draw, also had good ratings, garnering 497,000 viewers. Moreover, the Liga MX Femenil Final second leg made a special appearance to the Showbuzzdaily's top 150 cable originals and network finals with a 0.04 viewership rating and 118,000 average viewers. Also, another notable game screened by the Spanish-language channel was the meeting between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the UEFA Champions League. The game ended 3-0 in favor of the Vecchia Signora with the broadcast scoring a 0.15 viewership rating and entertaining 388,000 average viewers.
NBC’s broadcast of the Manchester Derby was the second most-watched game on U.S. TV last week. The uneventful Premier League game, which ended with a scoreline of 0-0, did not reflect in viewership, earning a 0.49 viewership rating and reaching an average of 973,000 viewers. On the other hand, NBC Sports Network screened five games amassing to a total of 1,472,000 average viewers. The most successful out of the bunch was the 1-1 draw between Fulham and Liverpool on Sunday, scoring a 0.32 viewership rating and reaching 513,000 average viewers.
Lastly, two La Liga Santander games on beIN Sports Español made it to the Showbuzzdaily's top 150 cable originals and network finals. The most successful of the two was the Madrid Derby on Saturday, which averaged 199,000 viewers. Not bad for a game on beIN Sports.
