Milan's Scudetto dreams are now up in smoke after a frustrating draw with Sampdoria last weekend, but the Rossoneri will still want to get back to winning ways in order to prevent Juventus and Napoli from overtaking them in the table.

Preview: Parma vs AC Milan

It's been a very disappointing 2021 for AC Milan and their fans, as the Rossoneri have now had to give up any hopes of winning what would have been their first Scudetto since 2011. At the start of this year, Stefano Pioli's men were on top of the table, and were still unbeaten in the league. Flash-forward to April, and they've now lost five matches and have slipped 11 points behind city rivals Inter, who are well on course to winning their 19th league title and their first since 2010.

At this point, Milan, who are also out of the Europa League after losing to Manchester United, as well as the Coppa Italia, now need to focus on securing second spot and a place in the Champions League for next season. The Diavolo have reigning champions Juventus, who are also out of the running for the Scudetto, as well as Napoli, and even Atalanta, all hoping to also secure Champions League football for the 2021/2022 campaign, so they really can't afford to just throw in the proverbial towel, so to speak. Milan have waited eight years to earn a spot in the Champions League, so in short, it's been a long time coming for a team whose last Champions League triumph was way back in 2007.

Meanwhile, their upcoming hosts Parma have endured a horrible start to 2021, which saw them pick up just one point from their first eight games. However, the Crociati have slowly started to see small signs of improvement, albeit it hasn't been just enough to help them claw their way out of the drop zone. As of now, Roberto D'Aversa's side sit in 19th spot, four points from safety. That being said, they have managed to pick up five points from their last four games, including one victory - which is notable considering that Parma have only won three times all season.

Still, their record against Milan is quite dismal. The hosts have failed to win their last six meetings with the Rossoneri, and indeed, haven't registered a league win over their upcoming visitors in over seven years (since March 2014).

Team news: Parma vs AC Milan

Parma: To complicate matters, the struggling hosts have a whole slew of injuries to deal with. Roberto Inglese, Simone Iacoponi, Valentin Mihaila, Joshua Zirkzee, Yann Karamoh, Juan Brunetta, and Wylan Cyprien are among those that D'Aversa will not be able to call on for Saturday's game.

AC Milan: New signing Mario Mandzukic, who has spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch due to injuries, may feature in this match after returning to training.
