The Red Devils will hope to take another step closer to securing a Europa League final spot when they welcome AS Roma to Old Trafford.

Preview

Manchester United will welcome AS Roma to Old Trafford in a bid to get a foot over the line in a penultimate UEFA Europa League clash. The Red Devils have been impressive in the campaign so far, losing just a game in their run to the semi-final stage of the competition and are well-positioned to secure the silverware for the first time in four years.

A series of remarkable performances have resulted in respective wins for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men over Real Sociedad, AC Milan and Granada in the knockout phase. Coming into their fifth semi-final since the start of last year, United have been tipped as favorites to secure this season's title after their triumphant campaign in 2017. However, they will be required to progress to the final first after failing to do so in their last five attempts across all competitions.

The club's recent form gives room for optimism, having recorded just one defeat across their last 20 outings in all competitions. In the Europa League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side remains unbeaten in their last 17 matches at Old Trafford. With Roma picking up just one win in their last five outings, the odds are well stacked against them to secure a meaningful result from Manchester on Thursday night.

The Serie A club has struggled to find its mojo in recent weeks and has picked up just one win in their last seven league matches. At the moment, they are on the verge of missing out on a European spot for next season with the club sitting in seventh place with 55 points after 33 matches - six points behind sixth-placed Lazio.

However, in the Europa League, they have punched a bit above their weight and the win over Ajax in the previous round is a testament to this. The Giallorossi secured a 3-2 aggregate win over the Dutch outfit to book their place in the semis after cruising past Shakhtar Donestk and Braga in the previous rounds.

With the possibility of a first European final in 30 years well within their perspective, Roma would be poised to make a statement against the favorites for the title. An unfinished business also remains between the pair and the Serie A club will be interested in getting one over the Red Devils this time around. So far, they have won only one of their last 17 European fixtures in England, losing ten of those games - including three at Old Trafford.
