The Blues could look to sell he youngster in order to fund a massive swoop for the Inter ace.

Earlier we noted that while Thomas Tuchel has overseen a very impressive improvement in Chelsea's fortunes since arriving at Stamford Bridge, there were still some questions about his team selection.

Namely, why the German tactician has opted to overlook young English striker Tammy Abraham, despite his scoring more goals than the struggling Timo Werner.

Werner's on-going problems in front of goal haven't gone unnoticed by frustrated Chelsea fans, and his glaring miss for the Blues in this weekend's Champions League clash against Real Madrid had quite a few up in arms. Hopefully, that won't end up costing Chelsea dearly when Los Blancos show up in London for part two of their semi-finals encounter, but according to Tuchel, his omission of Abraham is nothing personal and it's simply for tactical reasons.

However, it's not surprising that there are increasing and more frequent reports that the 23-year-old's future at Stamford Bridge is not secure. Nor is the English international certainly going to be keen on being a fringe player. He played just three minutes for the Blues during their 1-0 win over West Ham and hasn't started a match for Tuchel since Chelsea drew with Southampton way back in February.

And with Werner continuing to fluff his lines - yet still gets a spot in the starting XI - it's only natural that the player will be forced to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also been linked with a move for a player who once donned the Blues kit on more than one occasion: Romelu Lukaku. Of course, the Belgian star won't come cheap, as he's a key player for Inter, who are on the cusp of winning their 19th Scudetto and first Serie A title since 2010.

The player that could be used to defray some the cost? Tammy Abraham.

Abraham, who has two years left on his deal, is reportedly valued at £40 million. According to the Telegraph, two clubs that are interested are Leicester City and West Ham, and Chelsea will be keen on listening to offers - but only to buy.

That decision could potentially out teams from Italy like AC Milan who at one point were considering looking at a loan deal with an option to buy the player at a later point in time.

Veteran striker Olivier Giroud is also expected to make way in order to free up some additional wages for a potential Lukaku arrival.
