Once again, a Premier League clash emerged as the most-watched game of the week, and to make matters even more interesting, the game in question became the most-watched of the season in the United States, something that may not say much, but has to speak volumes of the popularity of the league in this country.
The game that caught over 900,000 average viewers last week featured Chelsea and Manchester United. The Blues seemed to be walking away with all the points, but a late goal by Casemiro saved a point for Erik Ten Hag's men. In fact, if you put together the Spanish and English broadcasts, this clash gathered over one million average viewers.
Curiously, and even with the MLS playoffs taking place, the second and third places in this battle for the rankings ended going to Liga MX games that defined the teams that are going to play for the crown this week. The first one of those featured América, who was unable to beat Toluca and surrendered their spot as the favorite in the league. Meanwhile, Sunday's controversial match between Monterrey and Toluca also gathered over 600,000 average viewers, leaving testament of the popularity of this competition one more time.
