However, a new report has emerged regarding Messi's future and it has shocked everyone. According to the reliable David Ornstein of the Athletic, one Major League Soccer side are confident of bringing the 35-year-old to the USA.
They are none other than Inter Miami, the club co-owned by fellow football icon David Beckham. The Florida-based side have long been linked with Messi, and for obvious reasons, as the 2021 Copa America champion has hinted at a move to North America on numerous occasions. However, not many expected this to come to fruition this early.
According to the report, secret talks have been going on for some time between Inter Miami and Leo's camp. The Herons, who lost to New York City FC in round one of the MLS Cup Playoffs, are now confident of securing the former Barcelona superstar's signature in what promises to be the most high-profile signing in this league's history.
Jorge Messi, Leo's father and agent, has had meetings with fellow Inter Miami co-owners Jorge and Jose Mas but PSG won't let this happen without a fight. Galtier's side wish to keep their influential attacker beyond 2023 but unless the player agrees to that one-year extension, he will be free to discuss pre-contract agreements in just a few months.
