Switzerland and Cameroon will play each other for the first time ever as they begin their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Group G. The pair will be eager to secure favorable results in with many anticipating their group to be one of the most keenly contested.
The Swiss will enter the World Cup having featured in the quarter-final of Euro 2020 and will be eager to build on it with another impressive campaign at the mundial. They will go into the mid-week's affair on the back of a very poor run of form which has seen them pick up a four-game winless streak. Since defeating Algeria in the World Cup play-offs earlier this year, Rigobert Song's side has only managed a single win ( 1-0 against Burundi) across five competitions, losing and drawing two matches apiece.
As far as underdog story go at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, it will not be surprising to see Cameroon getting a favorable result at the expense of Switzerland. However, they wil required to set-up their game even better and produce performances reminiscent of what got them a third place finish at the last AFCON.

Switzerland's Yann Sommer suffered an ankle injury in October but is expected to be available after featuring in his side's friendly defeat against Ghana last week. Aside from the Borussia Monchengladbach, there are no lingering issues in the European side.
