Tite comes clean in regards to Neymar's injury

Brazil's coach comes clean about Neymar's worrying ankle injury

November 24, 2022 By Oscar Rojas
The Brazilian ace left the pitch limping after the Serbian side made a habit out of fouling him during his time on the field.

Neymar ended the game against Serbia in tears and off the pitch, as the European side made it clear that they would never let him dominate the clash and used any means possible to stop the PSG ace. More than that, "Ney" set an unwanted record for becoming the most fouled player in the ongoing tournament, with nine fouls against him during the tie.

To put this fact in perspective, Serbian players committed 12 fouls against Brazil, meaning that 75% of the team's fouls were aimed at the Brazilian footballer. With those numbers in mind, it was no wonder to see the player out of the pitch with a sprained right ankle and with an ice pack trying to diminish its swelling.

The issue was brought up during the post-match interviews, with Brazil's doctor having to speak out to clarify the player's situation ahead of the rest of the tournament and with fears of Neymar having to leave the World Cup due to this injury.

"Neymar came off with a sprained ankle. There was not time to perform any further tests. It is important to wait at least 24 hours, we have to be patient. It is too soon to say something, we will have to wait and see how things turn out," doctor Rodrigo Lesmar stated.

Moments later, coach Tite spoke about the footballer's situation and calmed tried to issue reassuring words for A Canarinha's fans, since he believes the player will be available to play in coming World Cup games.

"Don't worry, Neymar will keep playing the World Cup. He will carry on playing, you can mark my words," Tite added.

It is too early to say if Neymar will be available to play the team's next game against Switzerland. Only time will tell if the team's medical staff or their boss had the final say on this worrying injury for Neymar.
