The Juventus goalkeeper denied the Saudis twice in quick succession, first saving the penalty before stopping the follow-up shot.

Wojciech Szczęsny pulled off arguably the best save of the 2022 FIFA World Cup so far!

Poland took to the pitch for the second game of the tournament, facing Saudi Arabia in an intriguing fixture. The European side locked horns with the Green Falcons on the back of the Middle Eastern side's brilliant 2-1 victory over Argentina, leading many to wonder whether Lewandowski and Co. would be their next victims.

And from how the game unfolded in the first half, the run of play favored the Saudis. However, Herve Renard's men conceded a sucker-punch goal, with Piotr Zielinski netting past the Asian heavyweights. Nonetheless, the Green Falcons got a brilliant opportunity to equalize just before the break.

After an intervention from VAR, Saleh Al-Shehri and Co. were awarded a penalty, albeit a soft one, with Salem Al-Dawsari stepping up to take the spot kick. However, Wojciech Szczesny's heroics prevented them from going level.

The Juventus goalkeeper pulled off a brilliant double save to halt the opposition, first parrying Al-Dawsari's attempt before pushing the follow-up shot over the bar. Check out this brilliant moment in the videos below (clips are geo-restricted).

Victory over Poland would have secured early progression for the Gulf nation while the Eagles knew this was a must-win game given that their final group-stage match is against Argentina.

Should Lewandowski and Co. come away with the three points, then they will have their goalkeeper to thank.
