The Stars and Stripes booked their spot in the knockout stage but the unfortunate injury to match-winner Christian Pulisic left fans worried.

The U.S. men's national team achieved their goal on Tuesday, beating Iran 1-0 in their final group-stage game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, thus securing their ticket to the round of 16 alongside England.

However, that victory did not come without cost. Christian Pulisic, one of the most influential players for the Stars and Stripes, picked up an unfortunate injury in the first half of that encounter and was forced off the pitch as a result.

In fact, this incident came while the Chelsea attacker scored the winning goal as the 24-year-old collided with the Iranian goalkeeper. Additionally, he wasn't the only USMNT player to pick up a knock as Josh Sargent suffered an injury later on in that tie.

As a result, the full-time celebrations were stained with concern regarding Pulisic and whether he would be available for their round of 16 showdown against the Netherlands. A number of updates have been revealed since that game, the first being the extent of Christian's injury.

The North American giants revealed on Twitter that the attacker had been diagnosed with a pelvic contusion and that his status is "day-to-day". This means that while he has not been ruled out for that knockout stage match, there are uncertainties regarding his availability.

USA head coach Gregg Berhalter also offered some insight to CNN This Morning, saying that the attacker was in good spirits and that he is hopeful of a return for that upcoming match, scheduled to take place on Saturday.

"He seems to be doing good, just spoke with him a couple of minutes ago," Berhalter said.

"Hopefully, he'll be ready for the game against the Netherlands. But in terms of his contribution to the group, I've said all along that when one of your most talented players is also one of your hardest workers, you know you're in a good spot."

Pulisic was not hospitalized but simply underwent scans. The Premier League ace rejoined the rest of the squad at the team hotel and took part in the post-match celebrations with his teammates.
