The Argentine ace's deal is set to conclude by the end of the season, and there are some who believe that Saturday's will be his last match with Los Blaugranas.

While the relationship between Lionel Messi and Barcelona seemed destined to continue, there may be external issues that could see "La Pulga" leaving the club where he became a football icon.

With the team still involved in the title race until last weekend, Messi's future at Camp Nou seemed like a lock. Unfortunately for the club, their disappointing performance that saw them slip to third and out of the battle for the crown could have compromised their chances of signing an extension with Messi.

According to reports by Le Parisien, the footballer was keen on signing an extension with Barcelona after the first meeting between his father and president Joan Laporta, where both parties agreed that Messi would accept to lower his wages to help the club's ailing finances. Nevertheless, the player's inner circle has urged him to consider leaving the club in favor of an offer from PSG.

The French publication states that Messi' family and even his father, Jorge Messi, have told him that PSG's project could give him a chance to win an international title, namely the UEFA Champions League, faster than at Barcelona, where there will be a rebuilding process that will start this summer. Added to that, his wages would be even higher than those he currently earns at Barcelona and he would allegedly make his family happier, as all of them have asked him to consider PSG's offer.

The French newspaper has also revealed that PSG will not carry on with their negotiations until Messi tells the world he wants to leave Camp Nou. Hence, Messi's announcement about his future has to come as quickly as possible, so all parties can plan ahead in what could be a hectic summer for one of the best players in the world.
