Criticisms of Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea have made rounds after the goalkeeper made a bizarre error leading to a goal against Everton on Friday night. The Spaniard handed the Toffes a glimmer of hope in the FA Cup third round encounter by committing a mistake that led to the visitors managing an equalizer at Old Trafford.

Manchester United were 1-0 up after just three minutes thanks to Antony. The Brazilian marked a return to the starting lineup by brilliantly converting an assist from the in-form Marcus Rashford. However, not long after the pair combined to break the deadlock, parity was restored in a rather uncanny manner.

The moment arrived when Neal Maupay shot low and wide from the byline in an attempt to beat De Gea at the near post. However, the United shot-stopper failed to bring the French striker's tame effort under control as it made it way in-between his legs. Conor Coady immediately pounced to put the ball in the net for Everton's equaliser just 10 minutes after the opener. Watch:

Needless to say, the match result ended up overshadowing what would have been a day to forget for De Gea.
