The Rossoneri will be looking to try to close the gap on current league leaders Napoli when they welcome Lazio on Tuesday, January 24th.

Lazio's form has not been the best, to say the least. Maurizio Sarri successfully guided the team into fifth spot last season, but Ciro Immobile's absence has been a huge blow for the Aquile, who have won just two of their last five Serie A games. That being said, Lazio, alongside others like Atalanta, have been the beneficiaries of Juventus receiving a whopping 15 point deduction; as a result, Sarri's side have moved up into sixth and could actually move into the Champions League spots should they beat AC Milan on Tuesday evening.

Despite their struggles in the league, Lazio were able to grind out a gritty 1-0 win over Bologna in the Coppa Italia courtesy of a first half goal from Felipe Anderson. That means that Sarri will face one of his former teams, Juventus, in the quarter-finals next month, but for now, he and Lazio, who will be serving as hosts, will be firmly focused on the task ahead, which will see them welcome the Rossoneri to the Stadio Olimpico as matchday 19 of the 2022/23 Serie A season comes to a close.

Last season saw AC Milan finally end their long wait to win the Scudetto, but the Rossoneri are in danger of failing to replicate that same achievement. Napoli have currently managed to open a whopping 12 point gap between themselves and the chasing pack as the Partnopei are desperate to win what would be their first Scudetto in over 30 years. At the moment, Stefano Pioli's men have picked up 38 points, with back to back draws, coupled by Napoli's unrelenting run, meaning that the Diavolo have quite a lot of work to do if they want to force their way back into the Scudetto race that is increasingly looking like it's all going Napoli's way.

It has been a frustrating past few weeks for Milan, who drew Roma and Lecce recently to drop four vital points, as well as were beaten thoroughly by a score-line of 3-0 by cross-town rivals Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana. In addition, Pioli's hopes of winning the Coppa Italia have now gone up in smoke as Milan suffered a frustrating 1-0 loss on home turf to Torino.

And Milan's schedule looks set to be quite hectic, as they will have to face Sassuolo and the aforementioned Torino on either side of another Derby della Madonnina showdown against Inter, before eventually returning to the Champions League with a tough two-legged round of 16 tie against Tottenham.
