The Gunners have been eliminated from the FA Cup following a defeat to Pep Guardiola's men.

Arsenal have been knocked out of the 2022-23 FA Cup by Man City in what was the first game of the fourth-round ties this weekend. The Gunners suffered an agonizing 1-0 defeat to the Citizens - their first in over 118 years in the competition - and were denied the chances to potentially secure a domestic double this season.

The North London club took to the field at the Etihad soaring high in confidence with their Premier League title charge underway and well on course. However, they could not replicate their brilliant form to progress to the next round of the domestic cup against their title rivals, with a lone goal defining proceedings at the end.

Neither of the sides was able to break the deadlock inside the first half despite fielding strong starting lineups and although Man City dominated, Arsenal looked more dangerous. In the end, Nathan Ake's finish with his weaker right foot in the 64th minute handed the hosts the chance to progress to the next round. Julian Alvarez hit the base of the post from outside the area and Jack Grealish got on the rebound to set the Dutchman up for a finish into the far bottom corner.

The result meant that Man City have beaten Arsenal in the FA Cup for the first time since their first meeting in this competition back in February 1904. In addition, Arsenal have now lost 13 of their last 14 games against the Citizens in all competition, including each of the last six. The host's manager Pep Guardiola has also registered 18 wins against Arsenal in all competitions - more than he has against any side in his managerial career.
