FA Cup: Man Utd vs Reading broadcast info

FA Cup: Where to watch Manchester United vs Reading live on January 28, 2023

January 27, 2023 By Emmanuel K. Budu-Annor
Manchester United will hope to progress to the fifth round when they take on Reading at home on Saturday.

Manchester United will host Reading at Old Trafford in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday. For neutrals, this will be a highly anticipated match, with both teams aiming to advance to the next round.

The hosts already have a foot in Wembley after beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the semi-final first leg clash of this season's Carabao Cup and, as a result, will aim to replicate the same performance to boost their chances of featuring in another domestic cup final. They will go into the weekend's encounter with a strong form as they boast just one defeat across their last 12 competitive outings.

This season's FA Cup charge is one that United will relish as they have been unable to make it to the final in each of the last four editions. With 12 titles to their name, the Red Devils have since been overtaken by Arsenal (14) as the most decorated club in the tournament's history. A win in the fourth round game this weekend should put them closer to reducing the deficit to just one.

For Reading, the tag as underdogs should be able to serve up the right motivation needed to cause an upset and dash the hopes of their more illustrious opponents at Old Trafford. On Saturday, United legend Paul Ince will lead his charges to familiar territory as they eye an unlikely win.

Since defeating Watford in the FA Cup third round three weeks ago, Reading have lost their last two Championship games and have conceded six goals in the process. Their last two games were a 2-2 stalemate at home against Queens Park Rangers and a 4-0 thrashing by Stoke City, respectively. They are now 14th in the Championship table, five points outside the playoff spots. However, there are no immediate worries about relegation because they are 11 points above the three lowest-ranked teams.

In the grand scheme of things, the Reading's chances of pulling off an upset against Man United on Saturday is marginal given that they have lost seven of their most recent eight FA Cup games against Premier League opponents. Also, they have only triumphed once in their previous 22 encounters with the Red Devils overall.

Team News: Manchester United vs Reading

Diogo Dalot (hamstring), Donny van de Beek (knee), and Axel Tuanzebe (back) will be out for Man United owing to injuries, while Luke Shaw (sickness) and Anthony Martial (leg) are both questionable and will be evaluated before kickoff.  Jadon Sancho, on the other hand, has participated in team practise, and could be included in the matchday squad for the first time since October. Skipper Harry Maguire can play after serving a one-match suspension in midweek.

For Reading, Andy Carroll (ankle), Naby Sarr (knee), Sam Hutchinson (achilles), and Liam Moore (hamstring) will all be out due to injury, and Ovie Ejaria is expected to stay away from the first team after supposedly being advised to leave the club this month.
