The Rossoneri found themselves on the wrong end of a big result at San Siro on Sunday.

AC Milan were dealt a massive disappointment after picking up defeat in Sunday afternoon's Serie A clash with Sassuolo. The Rossonerri suffered their biggest defeat in over two decades at San Siro, conceding five times and grabbing two consolation goals against I Neroverdi.

Having recorded three defeats in their last five league outings, Milan were poised to turn things around with their title defense going down the drain. However, the momentum to stamp their supremacy barely arrived as their visitors started on a good note to dictate the course of the game. After Olivier Giroud's strike had been overruled by in eighth minute, Gregoire Defrel and Davide Frattesi put the visitors in control of the game with a goal apiece in the 19th and 21st minute respectively.

Domenico Berardi who assisted Sassuolo's first two goals got on the end of Junior Traore's cross to make the scoreline 3-1 after Giroud had pulled a goal back for Milan in the 24th minute. Second half goals from Armand Lauriente and Matheus Henrique sealed the win for Sassuolo before Divock Origi got Milan's second of the afternoon at the latter part of the game.

The result meant that AC Milan have conceded at least five goals in a Serie A home match for the first time since doing so in a 6-1 defeat to Juventus back in April 1997. At the moment, Stefano Pioli's side sit in fourth on the Serie A table - 12 points behind league-leaders Napoli and a point above Lazio. Both teams have a game in hand and the position of Milan could change by the end of the gameweek.
