It was yet another miserable day for Rossoneri fans, as Milan slumped to a 1-0 loss to Inter in this weekend's Derby della Madonnina.

Suffice it to say, things are going horribly wrong for AC Milan at the moment. The Rossoneri, who came into this season as reigning Scudetto champions for the first time since 2011, have had a torrid campaign so far and now are looking very unlikely to have any hope of retaining their league title.

While Stefano Pioli's side are still in contention for a Champions League spot, 2023 has not been a kind year for the Diavolo, who notably have suffered defeats to the likes of Sassuolo as well as were thoroughly trounced 3-0 by Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana.

On Sunday, Inter heaped more misery on their cross town rivals. A sole goal from Lautaro Martinez was enough to give Simone Inzaghi's men all three points, while it marked the third consecutive Serie A defeat for the Rossoneri.

That loss also means that Milan have won just one of their eight matches across all competitions since 2023 started, and are presently on a four match losing streak in all competitions, which sets a rather unpleasant milestone, as this stat shows:

In addition, Milan were truly on the back foot throughout, and were quite fortunate that Inter were not able to convert more of their chances. The first half indeed was all one-way traffic, during which the Nerazzurri bombarded their opponents relentlessly in a way that had never been seen before:

Milan will now hope to dig themselves out of their rut as they face Torino this weekend, ahead of a very tough Champions League round of 16 tie against Tottenham next week.
