The London giants could have won all three points but were denied a spot kick by VAR, sparking anger and shock on social media.

For the 11th time out of their last 13 Premier League games, Chelsea have dropped points, this time drawing 1-1 away to West Ham in Saturday's early kick-off.

Joao Felix, who joined last month on loan, grabbed the opening goal for the visitors after receiving an exquisite cross from Enzo Fernandez. However, the Blues failed to capitalize on their dominance in the first 30 minutes and conceded an equalizer courtesy of their former player Emerson Palmieri to only pick up a point.

Despite this, Chelsea fans came away from that tie with a sense of injustice following one late decision from the referees. This is due to a controversial penalty decision that went against the visitors.

With only a few minutes left in normal time, Conor Gallagher saw a shot on goal take a deflection off of Tomas Soucek's hand as he was dropping to the floor. The Chelsea players appealed for a spot kick but the on-pitch official refused to award it.

What was even more shocking was VAR's refusal to get involved. Despite watching the replays, the officials behind the screen brushed the incident aside and did not call for a review.

This left fans, both Chelsea's and rival supporters, flabbergasted by the decision. As a result, Potter's men were forced to return to West London with a single point. Check out the incident in the clips below (videos are geo-restricted).

Speaking after the game, Potter refused to get drawn in to the controversy and instead looked at the positives. Nonetheless, with the club's UEFA Champions League round of 16 showdown with Dortmund fast approaching, the English giants know they must start winning games as soon as possible.
