The Nerazzurri are reportedly looking to offload Lukaku in lieu of a younger option from the Bundesliga.

Romelu Lukaku could be heading for a swift exit from Inter, if reports are to be believed.

The Nerazzurri paid an estimated $21.3 million (€20 million) to bring in the Belgian international on loan from Chelsea, but it has hardly paid dividends as Lukaku has spent large spells out injured. So far, he has scored a paltry two league goals and three overall in 13 appearances across all competitions.

As such, Inter are looking to make a change this summer, with Borussia Moenchengladbach's Marcus Thuram high on the list. The 25-year-old French international is also on the radar of some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Barcelona, Chelsea, and not surprisingly, Bayern Munich, meaning that the Nerazzurri will face some tough competition to secure his signature.

Thuram's contract is set to expire this summer, and as the player hasn't indicated anything about wanting to extend his stay with Gladbach, Inter will hope to quickly offload Lukaku in order to free up space to snap up a new striker on a free transfer.

This means that Lukaku will be shipped right back to Stamford Bridge, just one season after leaving to return back to Italy. It will be interesting to see what Chelsea do regarding this, as the Blues' recent transfer moves clearly indicate that they are not looking to reintegrate Lukaku back into the squad as they aim to move in a new direction.
