A photo of the pair having dinner together at Manchester has surfaced on the internet.

Manager of Manchester United Erik ten Hag was spotted having dinner with former United boss Sir Alex Ferguson at a restaurant in Manchester on Tuesday evening. A photograph shared on social media shows the pair engaged in conversation while enjoying a meal.

The timing of the meeting is significant, as Ten Hag prepares for two crucial matches that could make or break Man United's season. On Thursday, the Red Devils will host Barcelona in the second leg of the Europa League play-off round at Old Trafford, after a stellar performance earned them a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Spain. Additionally, United will face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

Last week, Sir Alex Ferguson was present at the Camp Nou and, on Thursday, he is expected to carry on his tradition of watching the club play at Old Trafford when Barca come to town. In hindsight, the legendary Premier League manager does not have fond memories regarding meetings with the Catalans. During his time at the helm of affairs, he was denied the opportunity to win the Champions League on two separate occasions by the Blaugrana who were then managed by Pep Guardiola. All things being equal, a win for United will be well welcomed by Fergie.

At the beginning of the season when Erik ten Hag's appointment was confirmed, he expressed his admiration for the Scottish coach, and credited him for providing the blueprint for the club's success. He, however, was quick to suggest that there is the need to create a new identity for the team going forward.

While the meeting has led to many speculation, the details of the conversation will most definitely remain between the pair. In the meantime, United fans will be focused on the upcoming matches and hoping for a positive outcome. Needless to say, Sir Alex Ferguson will be very proud of Erik ten Hag for the progress he has overseen in his tenure at the club.
