Lionel Messi's future has been the matter of speculation for quite a few weeks, but there had not been any clear statements about a potential move for his services until today, when Inter Miami's boss confirmed the team's intentions to lure the Argentine ace to the North American league.
To make matters even more interesting, Messi's signing with the black and pink side would not be the only one for the MLS club, as Sergio Busquets was also confirmed as a potential signing this summer.
"I'm not going to deny it and say there isn't truth in the speculation that we're interested in Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets. Since I joined Miami, I think we've been linked with every single top player in world football," Neville stated.
The English boss went on to add how the team could afford both signings in the upcoming transfer window, as they have some Designated Player spots available, and to fill them with Busquets and Messi would be a massive success.
"We had Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi. Now we've got the opportunity to bring in some new designated players following their retirements," Neville added.
The former boss for the English National Women's Team boss added how Messi's signing could become a defining moment sports played in the United States.
"If Leo Messi joined the club, he would become the biggest signing in the history of team sports in this country. I think it would go beyond Inter Miami's history, it would have a big impact for MLS," Neville concluded.
Both Messi and Busquets are reportedly negotiating contract extensions at PSG and Barcelona, respectively. But with both their deals coming to an end this summer, the possibility of watching them play in the U.S. will still be there unless they put pen to paper to a new deal.
